How to get a brighter complexion with the use of makeup?

I have large pores on my cheeks and they make my skin look really dull and old, even though I'm 17. I use Clinique Instant Perfector on my cheeks every day. So far it's the only reliable product I've come across, but it doesn't fully do the job.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can make my cheeks to look less dull and close up my pores? How to get a brighter complexion with the use of makeup?
illumination powder. :) or some blush with shimmer in it :). or a high recommendation is mac vanilla pigment alone blended or vanilla pigment mixed with a moisturizer or your foundation or powder :) also if you can afford something stila http://www.stilacosmetics.com/product_de鈥?/a> that illuminating moisturizer with spf is so illuminating and shimmery-but not too shimmery! here's a video on youtube... this girl put it on her hand i mean just look at it! it's so luminous! so bright! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASkrXA6sS鈥?/a> [she starts to show the tinted moisturizer at 5:46 :) ] good luck!

ADDED: these are just a FEW ways people use vanilla pigment... just a few! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqrTrAWp0鈥?/a>

also i forgot to mention-someone already said it but exfoliate your face twice a weak to get rid of dead skin cells-although this may not help with much it is good to do this isn't makeup but it's a good tip :)

ADDED TIMES TWO: a good exfoliation scrub is swiss ives apricot scrub :) it's as good as the expensive stuff i use it and everyone says it's the best : so... yeah! :DHow to get a brighter complexion with the use of makeup?
Exfoliate your skin with a facial scub. You dont need to get an expensive one as I think they all do the same job. After you have exfoliated close the pores wiith several splashes of cold water. I would only do this once a week and you will notice the difference. Also drink a lot of water as that makes a big difference.
dullness on the skin is a result of the light not reflecting perfectly off it... you have to exfoliate to get all those dry, little uneven cells off your face

use a nice exfoliator like philosophy's micro exfoliating wash or microderm abrasion kit...

the cheap st. ives scrub uses walnut shells that actually scratch the skin and leave it looking duller- it's not what you want to illuminate your skin. you should have tiny exfoliators to illuminate
I read in a fitness magazine last night some tips. Put a hot towel on your face for 10min. This opens your pores more. Then put a moisturizure on it will help your face and help with minimizing pores.
